Dean's Welcome

Dr. Angi Bourgeois,
Interim Dean of the Graduate School

Thank you for your interest in the Graduate School of Mississippi State University! Known throughout our history as "The People's University," our university provides the academic, leadership, and social opportunities to help each graduate student reach their greatest potential.

Our student enrollment has grown over the past few years, reaching over 23,000 students this year including approximately 4,100 graduate students. But beyond the enrollment numbers, our emphasis is on the quality of the graduate student experience. You will find that Mississippi State University faculty and staff truly care about students. By being at the cutting edge of research in their disciplines, our faculty bring the latest in knowledge and techniques into the classroom as well as provide hands-on educational experiences.

In addition to discipline-specific educational activities, we also offer an array of professional development programs, such as our Preparing Future Faculty program, Fellowship Application workshops, International programs, and training for effective university-level teaching and research. Furthermore, many of our graduate programs offer additional funding for student research, travel to professional conferences, health insurance, and other student support.

Finally, Mississippi State University offers an ideal campus environment for graduate students. Campus life at a major university can be very exciting, with large sporting events, a vibrant arts community, and multicultural communities. And our campus is located in a small “college town” where students have the freedom to focus on their studies without the burdens of urban life.

We are proud of our highly ranked graduate programs. We invite you to join us at Mississippi State University, whether it be on campus or on line in one of our Distance Education programs, and become a member of the Bulldog family!
